The High Priestess

The High Priestess is card 2 of the Major Arcana, the keeper of what is not said out loud. Readers traditionally take it as intuition, inner knowledge and the wisdom of waiting until something becomes clear.

Card 2
Golden Dawn
Moon
Upright
intuition, inner knowledge, what goes unsaid
Reversed
ignored intuition, secrets, withdrawal

Upright

Stillness is the first thing people notice about this card. The priestess does not act; she knows. Readers take her as a prompt to trust a quiet sense of what is true, to listen more than speak, and to accept that some answers arrive only when you stop pushing for them.

Reversed

Upside down, the card is usually read as intuition ignored or drowned out: a gut feeling overruled, a secret kept too long, or a withdrawal that has become distance. It can also point to hidden motives, your own or someone else's.

In love and at work

Love readings often take it as attraction that runs deeper than either person admits, or as a need for patience before speaking. At work it is linked with research, study, counseling and any role where listening matters more than talking.

In the picture

She sits between two pillars, one black marked B and one white marked J, after the pillars of Solomon's temple. A veil of pomegranates hangs behind her, a crescent moon lies at her feet and a scroll marked TORA rests half hidden in her lap. The Golden Dawn gave her to the Moon.

In a Caelumia profile
