Upright
A trumpet sounds and the dead rise from their coffins to answer: the scene is the Last Judgment, and readers take it as awakening. The card is read as a moment of clarity about your life, a call to a purpose, or a fresh start after an honest look back.
Reversed
Readers often take the reversed card as a call ignored, or as self-doubt that makes it hard to move on. It can also point to harsh self-judgment, the kind that keeps a person reviewing the past instead of acting.
In love and at work
A turning point in a relationship, a second chance, or a decision about whether to recommit: these are the usual love readings. For work, it is linked with a vocation, a career change that feels like a calling, and assessments of all kinds.
In the picture
The angel Gabriel leans from the clouds and blows a trumpet hung with a flag bearing a red cross. Below, men, women and children stand up in open coffins floating on water, their arms raised, with snowy mountains behind. The Golden Dawn assigned the card to the element of Fire.
