Sun in Capricorn
The Sun in Capricorn is associated with ambition, discipline and a long view of life. Astrologers read it as a responsible, patient person who sets high goals and works steadily toward them.
What the Sun stands for
In a birth chart the Sun is the center of the self: will, vitality and the sense of purpose a person grows into. Ancient astrologers counted it as one of the two lights, with the Moon, and read it for life force and standing in the world.
Modern astrology puts the Sun sign first because it is the one placement anyone can work out from a birthday. That popularity began with Alan Leo around 1900 and the newspaper horoscope columns of the 1930s. The Sun is still only one part of a chart, and it reads best alongside the Moon and the rising sign.
How astrologers read it
Capricorn is Saturn's earth sign, and a Capricorn Sun is often described as serious from an early age. It respects structure and experience, and it is usually willing to put in years of work for a result that lasts.
Astrologers often note a dry humor and a softer side that shows once trust is earned. Many describe a Capricorn Sun as growing more relaxed with age, once the early work of proving itself is done.
In relationships
In relationships, a Capricorn Sun is often read as cautious and committed. It shows love by building a shared future and taking responsibility, and it may warm up slowly.
Strengths and shadows
At its best this placement is dependable, capable and quietly caring. At its worst it becomes rigid, overworked, and too focused on status or results.
