Life Path 8
Life Path 8 is the number of power and achievement. Numerologists associate it with ambition, authority and material success, and with a life that deals in money, responsibility and the right use of strength.
What a Life Path number is
The Life Path is the number numerologists draw from a full date of birth, and most of them treat it as the most important number in a chart. It is read as the general direction of a life: the qualities a person grows into and the lessons that keep coming back.
The system is usually called Pythagorean, after the Greek philosopher who taught that numbers underlie everything. The method itself is modern. It took shape in the United States in the early 20th century, in books such as L. Dow Balliett's The Philosophy of Numbers (1908), and was standardized by later writers including Juno Jordan.
Caelumia reduces the month, the day and the year of birth separately, then adds the three and reduces again. The master numbers 11, 22 and 33 are kept whole wherever they appear. Other numerologists add the digits in a different order, which can give a different result for the same date, so it is worth knowing which method a reading uses.
An example
Someone born on June 22, 1969 has Life Path 8:
- Month: 6
- Day: 22 (a master number, kept whole)
- Year: 1969: 1 + 9 + 6 + 9 = 25, then 2 + 5 = 7
- Total: 6 + 22 + 7 = 35, then 3 + 5 = 8
What it means
Eight is often drawn as two circles stacked, and turned on its side it becomes the sign for infinity. Numerologists read it as balance between the material and the spiritual, and as the number of management and results. A Life Path 8 is usually described as capable, driven and practical about what it takes to get things done.
The test for an 8 is using power well: building success without letting it take over the rest of life.
Strengths and shadows
People with Life Path 8 tend to be good organizers and natural executives, able to see the big picture and keep going under pressure. Many are generous once they are established.
The difficulties are workaholism and control. An 8 can measure itself by status, clash with authority, or find it hard to relax.
In love and work
Loyal and protective with a partner, an 8 does best with someone who is strong in their own right. At work it is suited to leadership, business, finance, law or any field with real responsibility.
