Life Path 33

Life Path 33 is the master teacher, the rarest master number. Numerologists associate it with compassion, healing and service, and with a life devoted to guiding and uplifting others.

What a Life Path number is

The Life Path is the number numerologists draw from a full date of birth, and most of them treat it as the most important number in a chart. It is read as the general direction of a life: the qualities a person grows into and the lessons that keep coming back.

The system is usually called Pythagorean, after the Greek philosopher who taught that numbers underlie everything. The method itself is modern. It took shape in the United States in the early 20th century, in books such as L. Dow Balliett's The Philosophy of Numbers (1908), and was standardized by later writers including Juno Jordan.

Caelumia reduces the month, the day and the year of birth separately, then adds the three and reduces again. The master numbers 11, 22 and 33 are kept whole wherever they appear. Other numerologists add the digits in a different order, which can give a different result for the same date, so it is worth knowing which method a reading uses.

An example

Someone born on December 8, 1975 has Life Path 33:

  1. Month: 12: 1 + 2 = 3
  2. Day: 8
  3. Year: 1975: 1 + 9 + 7 + 5 = 22 (a master number, kept whole)
  4. Total: 3 + 8 + 22 = 33 (a master number, kept whole)

What it means

Some numerologists keep 33 whole instead of reducing it to 6. Others do not use it at all, because it came into use later than 11 and 22. Those who use it read it as the caring responsibility of 6 raised to a higher level.

What 33 is usually asked to learn is service with limits: giving generously without losing oneself.

Strengths and shadows

The best of Life Path 33 is nurturing, wise and deeply generous, someone who teaches by example. People with this number are often drawn to healing, teaching, counseling or community work.

The difficulties are self-sacrifice and burnout. A 33 can take on other people's burdens as its own, or feel responsible for everyone. Numerologists often say its first task is to accept care as well as give it. Many numerologists say it lives as a 6 for much of life.

In love and work

A 33 loves protectively and with devotion, and it does best with a partner who looks after it in return. At work it suits caring professions, teaching, the arts or any role centered on helping others.
