Sun in Pisces

What the Sun stands for

In a birth chart the Sun is the center of the self: will, vitality and the sense of purpose a person grows into. Ancient astrologers counted it as one of the two lights, with the Moon, and read it for life force and standing in the world.

Modern astrology puts the Sun sign first because it is the one placement anyone can work out from a birthday. That popularity began with Alan Leo around 1900 and the newspaper horoscope columns of the 1930s. The Sun is still only one part of a chart, and it reads best alongside the Moon and the rising sign.

How astrologers read it

Pisces is a water sign, traditionally ruled by Jupiter and in modern astrology by Neptune. A Pisces Sun is usually described as porous: it picks up the mood of a room and often feels what others feel before they say it.

Astrologers often link this placement to creativity and compassion. Many people with a Pisces Sun are drawn to caring work or to the arts, where their imagination has somewhere to go.

In relationships

In love, a Pisces Sun is described as romantic, tender and deeply empathetic. It can idealize a partner, so it does best with someone who is kind and also honest with it.

Strengths and shadows

The strengths are kindness, intuition and a rich imagination. The shadow is escapism, weak boundaries, and difficulty with plain facts that don't match the hoped-for story.

In a Caelumia profile

Caelumia reads Sun in Pisces toward these themes, then weighs them with the rest of a chart and numbers before anything is shown: Imagination, Mysticism, Sensitivity, Intuition.
