Sun in Gemini
The Sun in Gemini is associated with curiosity, wit and a need for variety. Astrologers read it as a mind that is always gathering, connecting and passing on ideas, and a person who comes alive in conversation.
What the Sun stands for
In a birth chart the Sun is the center of the self: will, vitality and the sense of purpose a person grows into. Ancient astrologers counted it as one of the two lights, with the Moon, and read it for life force and standing in the world.
Modern astrology puts the Sun sign first because it is the one placement anyone can work out from a birthday. That popularity began with Alan Leo around 1900 and the newspaper horoscope columns of the 1930s. The Sun is still only one part of a chart, and it reads best alongside the Moon and the rising sign.
How astrologers read it
Gemini is Mercury's air sign, and a Gemini Sun is usually described through the mind: quick, playful and interested in almost everything. Many people with this placement keep several projects, friendships or subjects going at once and move between them easily.
The twins of the sign are often read as a double nature. A Gemini Sun can hold two opinions at once and see the case for each, which makes for good company and good writing, and sometimes for trouble deciding.
In relationships
A Gemini Sun is often said to need a partner who is also a friend and a good conversation. Mental connection tends to matter as much as romance, and boredom can be harder on it than conflict.
Strengths and shadows
The strengths are adaptability, humor and a gift for language. The weaknesses are restlessness, a scattered focus and a habit of skimming the surface when a subject needs depth.
